Under Pressure

Only three days until my daughter and I leave on our 3,000 mile, twelve day road trip through nine western states. The itinerary is complete, the reservations are made, the maps are packed, and the last minute lists are ready to be checked.

It was Rebecca's idea to take a road trip together - she has always wanted to see Nebraska. The trip grew to include family history research stops in Montana and North Dakota. We will be looking for the homestead where my mother was born, the gold mining town (now a ghost town) where my grandmother grew up, and the little town on the Montana/North Dakota border where my mother's family lived for several years during her childhood. On the way back we want to stop at Mount Rushmore, swing through the NW corner of Nebraska, and travel the full width of Wyoming to take in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.

I've told friends and family about my plan to post regular updates of our adventure on this blog. Now I am under pressure to perform. With a bit of luck the technology will work, the days will be long enough, and maybe I will have something interesting to write.

  1. ooooh I AM looking forward to going on your road trip with you and your daughter. Pictures too!!What a treat.

Love the itinerary too - so thoughtful. I can hear Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska......

Travel is my best blogging/journal writing time. Writing from the road my best voice. Would probably have published by now if I could only keep on travelling without stops to earn a living (and lose my heart to some place of beauty)

    Happy travelling!
