Season of Peace

We come to this season of peace mindful of the work yet to be done to make peace with our brothers and sisters here at home and around the world. To make peace, we must act with integrity, compassion, and humility as we seek justice for all. The task requires a deep well of patience, respect for people with differing ideas or life styles, a desire to overcome our fears, and a commitment to the common good.

Life is not about amassing great personal wealth or power; it is not about wearing the latest style or living in an exclusive neighborhood; it is not about what we have or one right way of being. Our limited days here on earth can be spent seeking wisdom and understanding, serving those who need a helping hand, sharing our gifts, treating others with dignity, living a simple lifestyle, and giving/receiving love.
. . . and what is required of us but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly? Micah 6:8
These are words I want to remember at this season and into the New Year.
