I just read an article in American Libraries on the nine libraries of Stevens County, Washington. It is refreshing to see a library system doing what libraries do best - understanding the communities they serve, responding to special needs, acting as a local/national/international connection point, providing technology, and most importantly, knowing that the people who provide services are their most important asset. No bells and whistles, no fancy buildings, just straightforward and reliable library service.
This library system's levy is one I would vote for without hesitation. I hope the voters realize what a gem they have and show support for their libraries with a YES vote in November.
