Serenity

I have been repeating the familiar Serenity Prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr in my head the past few weeks.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
A friend recently suggested I remember that sage advice when I evaluate what I can and can't do to make a difference in the world.

I always think if I am clear and state my case convincingly, reasonable people will listen. Unfortunately they don't like to hear about problems especially when they have been charmed by those in power.

I also like to believe that everyone is motivated by good intentions, but I am beginning to wonder if fear and greed rule the world.

Wisdom is hard to find.

And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.

    Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." Jack Kerouac
